Our Story

From Lived Experience to Collective Impact

Moving Through Consulting was born from the belief that healing, leadership, and justice are deeply connected. Our founder, Deilia McLaughlin, MSS, LSW, is a proud HBCU graduate of Lincoln University and earned her Master’s from Bryn Mawr College Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research. Raised and rooted in Philadelphia, PA, she brings over 20 years of experience across child welfare, behavioral health, and higher education.

She created this space to center the voices, needs, and brilliance of Black women, families, and professionals—while welcoming all who are committed to meaningful change.

What began as a solo consulting practice has grown into a trusted hub for culturally grounded psychotherapy, professional development, and organizational strategy. Our work is guided by values of authenticity, equity, community, and purpose.

We partner with individuals and mission-driven organizations to:

  • Provide trauma-informed, affirming mental health care

  • Build capacity through training and development

  • Advance equity through strategic consulting and facilitation

  • Nurture healing and leadership in spaces too often marked by burnout and invisibility

We’re more than a service—we’re a movement. A place where people can grow, rest, unlearn, and rise.

Because when we move through it together, we don’t just survive—we thrive.

About Us

Where Healing Meets Purpose.

Built from Experience. Rooted in Purpose. Centered in Community.

Every movement has a story—and Moving Through Consulting began with one woman’s vision to bridge healing, equity, and leadership in spaces where they’re often missing.

Founded by Deilia McLaughlin, MSS, LSW, a licensed social worker, educator, and consultant with over 20 years of experience, this practice was born from lived experience, professional expertise, and an unwavering commitment to community care. Raised in Philadelphia and shaped by years in child welfare, behavioral health, and higher education, Deilia saw the gaps—especially for Black women and frontline professionals—and chose to build a space where their needs, voices, and power are fully seen and supported.

What started as a consulting practice has expanded into a multi-service platform offering:

  • Culturally responsive psychotherapy for Black women, caregivers, and professionals

  • Training and professional development for social service providers, educators, and leaders

  • Organizational consulting and strategy for mission-driven nonprofits and institutions

  • Speaking and thought leadership grounded in truth, care, and justice

At Moving Through, we’re not just offering services—we’re building a movement rooted in care, equity, and collective transformation.

Let’s move through it—together.

Founder’s Note

I created Moving Through because I’ve lived it. I know what it means to carry the weight, to lead with heart, and to navigate systems that weren’t built for us. This work is personal—and it’s powerful. I’m honored to hold space for your healing, your leadership, and your journey forward.

With gratitude,
— Deilia McLaughlin, MSS, LSW
